Plex Server Not Working

I’ve been using plex for years but now its started not working. First the libraries stopped working so I tried pointing to new ones. That didnt work so I reinstalled the server multiple times after deleting what was there. Still nothing so I made a new account and reinstalled while logged into the new one. Now no server is even showing.

What do you have it installed on. How are you trying to access it?

windows 11 and im trying to access it through the web but i usually play through roku

Id like to solve this issue sooner rather than later

what are you seeing. when you go to IP:32400/web? can you provide your server logs after restarting server and waiting like 2 minutes

Without seeing your server logs, (please post those) my preliminary guess is a corrupt database. Uninstalling/re-installing does not fix that.

Im seeing a lot of WARN - [HttpClient] HTTP error requesting GET https://<IP>.plex.direct:21106/identity (7, Couldn't connect to server) (Failed to connect to <IP>.plex.direct port 21106: Connection refused) messages. Are you using a VPN? if you open an incognito tab What does http://127.0.0.1:32400/web show? Has your ISP changed recently?

I do use a vpn but i turned it off while dealing with these issues. the ip address link you sent brings me to the main page but still no server

the logs are showing the server is logging into your other account. so logging into the web app with your account ironspiderp won’t show it.

when you uninstalled server did you remove registry settings? that is where it would have got the login info.

probably not. how do i do that? should i uninstall the server again?

You can try either…

…log into your old account then actually then manually sign out and sign into your current account.To be clear, in general settings of server not the web app

or

During your install/uninstall actions the server settings where not modified. The server is logged in as MyPlex: username is IronSpiderSteve but your username is ironspiderp so you are not acting as the server admin. see the first link BigWheel posted above.

GOOD NEWS! It works again. The registry uninstall technique worked. I truly appreciate it. How do avoid this happening in the future?

I don’t really know how you got into situation in the first place that caused you to make new accounts and such. if you are doing a full uninstall to start from scratch then you need to remove everything which includes registry settings

Without knowing what happened in the first place we cant provide any assistance avoiding it in the future. However next time you run into issues post here and we can look at the logs and see if we can provide any assistance.
