When I add a movie file to Plex, sometimes it gathers the wrong information and I have to change it manually. Anytime the year is wrong, I cannot change it. I can only delete the wrong year and leave it blank.
Can you demonstrate how you have named an affected folder and file please?
Are you following the file naming conventions as described in the support article?
Recently, I uploaded Dark Waters from last year. I named the file Dark Waters (2019), and the one from 2003 populated. I’ve always named my movie files like this, and the wrong title has populated several times.
But the main glitch in Plex, is I cannot change the year. This, to me, has nothing to do with how I name the file before adding it to my NAS.
Going by your first post your server version is many versions old, is there a reason for your reluctance?
You need to put in the entire date, not just the year, in YYYY-MM-DD format or it will not save.
If you do not know the month or day of release, just put in something like 1974-01-01 for January 1, 1974
