I cannot claim myplex media server

I have tried everything on the forums, even a complete clean install, removing all files. I still cannot get my Plex server to be claimed. This has cost me a lot of down time. Can it be an issue with my Plex account itself? How can I unclaim older instances of the server?

How exactly does it fail?
Do you get an error message when you attempt to sign the server into your account or won’t you even get the option to do that?

No, it just spins for about 30 seconds and then stops. No errors.

To add to Tom,

  1. Stop the local PMS
  2. Open the hosted server app; https://app.plex.tv
  3. Settings - Authorized Devices (left corner) - Server (dropdown)
  4. You can now see all the claimed server instances.
  5. REMOVE those you wish to delete.
  6. When all have been removed, Control-F5 (forced web app reload) and the list will be clean
  7. Now you can start.

Suggest, prior to restart, manually make a tar.gz of the Logs directory and attach here

I looked and there are no servers associated with my account. I have attached a tar.gz of the Logs folder. I’m running on Arch Linux. It has worked flawlessly in the past until I had the server shutdown for a month due to being on vacation.

Logs are filled with:

(Could not resolve host: plex.tv)

So check dns and default router settings

I fixed the DNS issues and no longer see those errors. However, I am still unable to claim the server. I am attaching the new logs after a fresh install.

After you corrected your DNS and/or routing issue, did you restart the server and OS?

And if so, try from a console and type:

dig plex.tv and show us the output

I was finally able to fix the dns issue and sign the server to my account. Thanks for all the help. I am now only having an issue with Google TV, it signs me in to Plex but my server has a triangle next to it. On the same tv (LG), Plex works as expected from that appl.

Please ignore the last post. That device is on a different network. Issue is resolved. Thanks @all for the help!
