I am trying to find this show "The Metropolitan Opera HD Live" The First Emperor (TV Episode 2007) - IMDb
The First Emperor ( [The Metropolitan Opera HD Live] I have tried every possible word combination, I have used this tt0986981 I have gone to TVDB ID, where the show doesn’t exist. Can someone please help me?
Thanks a lot.
The link you provided is for a TV episode, you cannot fix match at the episode level.
You can only Fix Match on the show itself.
I have been able to fix match in many, many episodes (over 40) This is the only one I cannot find.
Maybe I’m confused at your wording. Can you explain exactly what steps you’re taking?
The “Fix Match” operation doesn’t exist on the episode level so that can’t be what you were doing.
Sure, thank you for your time and help.
I go to “Match”. I type The First Emperor, I erase the year to see it that helps, I go either to choose either Plex Movie (Legacy) or The Movie Database. I change the possible languages, to see if that helps. I tried using the ttcode (tt0986981) from IMDB which is generally useful. But with this particular show, I cannot get the information.
That’s a TV episode, and will work better in a TV Shows Library.
You are right, but I already have all of my operas in my movie collection and all of the other episodes have been able to match (sorry for being picky and maybe difficult)
It really depends on the source of the media, and how it’s categorized by the metadata sources.
If IMDB (and TheMovieDB and etc.) consider it to be a movie, Plex can match it as a movie.
If IMDB (and etc.) don’t consider it to be a movie, Plex isn’t going to match it as a movie.
It’s likely that your other media has “Movie” metadata.
Although some media is in the metadata providers in both categories, the metadata providers try to prevent this and will actively remove incorrect entries.
One option is to create a TV Shows library. I imagine you’ll encounter more “TV” media in the future.
Another option is to leave it unmatched and manually edit the data.
Thank you so much for your help. My experience is, as I told you, I was able to consider every opera as a movie. I understand what you say. Thanks a lot.
I followed your advice and created two new folders on TV shows: Live from the Metropolitan Opera and The Metropolitan Opera HD Live. I moved files to both new folders. Nothing happens on Plex, which seems unable to recognize either the series and the episodes.
Are you using the TV Show file naming conventions? Sorry, I should have mentioned that before.
TV/The Metropolitan Opera HD Live (2006)/Season 1/The Metropolitan Opera HD Live - S01E03 - The First Emperor.ext
That matches for me.
TV Shows don’t work in Movie Libraries.
TV Show Libraries are required.
Thank you so much for your help. I have used Plex for a long time now, and all you are telling me works fine for every other series. My experience with the Met’s operas is that I could find information for all of them - over 40 - with the exception of the one I asked for in the Movies section. I find your advice very interesting. I could have all of them together. So I created the corresponding folders in TV Shows. I start with "The Metropolitan Opera Presents" R. Strauss: Ariadne auf Naxos (TV Episode 2003) - IMDb
R. Strauss: Ariadne auf Naxos (2003) I get in my Plex another show "The Met Celebrates Verdi, part two2 (https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/server/2b458a3e1a2b45abd293477911454c739fbf8073/details?key=%2Flibrary%2Fmetadata%2F7686&context=library%3Acontent.library~2~1)Episode 1
This is the way I named the content:
- H:\Series\Live from the Metropolitan Opera (1977)\Season 26\Live from the Metropolitan Opera (2003) -S26E01 - Ariadne auf Naxos.mp4
I have to say that finding trouble in only one show, The first emperor, I find operas very different to movie shows chapters. Each one has different musicians, writers, casts, and it’s nice to store them separately. As a series episode, I couldn’t see casts, pics, I wouldn’t be able to see what singers sing in another opera.
Anyway, thanks a lot for your time and dedication to my question.
I think TVDB is the best place to get Season/Episode numbering, and they’ve got it as S00E05.
So:
H:\Series\Live from the Metropolitan Opera (1977)\Season 0\Live from the Metropolitan Opera - S00E05 - Ariadne auf Naxos.mp4
Many people like FileBot. It makes a lot of this less painful.
IMDB states that Ariadne auf Naxos is “Season 26 | Episode 1”, which makes sense for a show which started in 1977. My experience is very few episodes of this show are catalogued in TVDB. Thanks for introducing me to FileBot.
Season 0 is for “Specials”.
It looks like this episode was a bit out of order compared to the others, but I’m not going to try to figure out why it’s a Special vs. a “regular” season episode.
LOL!!! Aparently because it was not either produced or aired by PBS.
Plex is not using IMDb for TV show metadata. You better look up your TV shows in either TheTVDB or TheMovieDB.
That’s a VERY useful piece of information and help. Many thanks.
Hi. I have a question about the same topic. As instructed, I am considering Met’s operas as a show’s episodes. A strange and funny thing happens: with S00E05 Live at the Met From Stage to Screen (2015) It is in the show’s folder, It appears on Plex, it says, correctly that the episode is 26 minutes long, it recognizes the file’s size. Everything appears correctly until I try to play it and, instead, I get S09E10 Cavalleria RusticanaPagliacci (2015) If I go to season 9, that episode (S09E10) appears in place and if I try to play it, it plays correctly. Thanks for your help.
