I cannot get PLEX to scan new files, anyone have ideas?

I’ve added some files and PLEX will NOT scan them. Log file shows:
Directory had 3 files, database had 0 files, can't skip.
I see several posts about this but no solution.
System: Bare metal Ubuntu 16.10
Has been working in the past, just recently added a few new files and, nothing…

Thank You for any tips, ideas.
Q

  1. possibly a file permission or ownership issue with the database file or with the media folder/media files?

2)possibly a scanner issue (see this post about the same kind issue note not exactly the same because that bug was fixed, but seem kind of similar) [forums.plex.tv/discussion/180387/media-scanner-stuck-with-database-had-0-files-cant-skip-message]"

thanks for the response. I actually did see that post yesterday and tried it, both opening up the security & rebooting. No luck. I’m debating deleting the library and trying to rescan the whole thing. I’m just worried that if that doesn’t work I will have lost all the videos that ARE in there… Also I think its weird that the message from the log file has been seen by others, but they were all in 2015! What is so “special” about what I’m doing…

you can delete a library without deleting the content and then try re-adding the same folder as a new library. If this is a library issue it will probably help

also maybe @sa2000 will have a better idea of what is happening, my guess is that he will see this post now that is name is mentioned

Well I always work from logs but if we are into guessing then it may be due to special words in the folder paths / file names which would result in them being ignored - I had that recently where I was adding a sample test file a user sent me and of course it had the word sample in the name and it just got ignored

are you still having issues?

Thanks gang I was able to pull it back in. But here I am again, with ubuntu 18.04 being out I want to re-install my HTPC which has Plex (among other things) on it. Last time I disconnected the HD with all my pictures, movies, music etc on it. Rebuilt the system, then reconnected the drive. I plan to do the same again. Is there a way to back-up my configuration (including Plex-Pass credentials) so that on the new system all is restored??
