I can't find "manage versions"

Hello all,

A quick question, Do the “Manage Versions” option still exist somewhere in Plex Server ? I can’t find it but I learn about it’s existence when questionning ChatGPT, here is it’s answer:

If you want to change how Plex displays different versions of a movie in the “Play Version” menu, including showing the filename instead of just the resolution, you can adjust this through the Plex settings. Here’s how you can do it:

  1. Open your Plex Media Server.
  2. Navigate to the movie for which you want to change the display in the “Play Version” menu.
  3. Click on the three dots (ellipsis) icon to open the menu.
  4. Choose “Manage Versions.”
  5. In the “Manage Versions” screen, you should see a list of different versions of the movie with their respective resolutions.
  6. Hover over the version for which you want to change the display.
  7. Click on the pencil/edit icon that appears next to the version.
  8. In the edit screen, you should see an option to change the “Version Label.” Update this field with the desired information, such as the filename.
  9. Click “Save” to apply the changes.
  10. Repeat these steps for each version you want to customize.

I do not recall Plex ever having such capability. You can use Editions for movies, but the files will be listed separately in the library.

There is a longstanding feature request, from 2018, to add additional information to the “Play Version” listings. You can add your vote if you wish.

It is talking about Optimized Versions in the Manage section of server settings. This is for those which the server created the optimized version, not for version files which you added manually.

Thanks for the clarification.

A big thanks for your answers. I will probably use “Editions”.
