I can't watch the movies on philips tv

Hello, good afternoon, since the new update on my smat philips TV I can’t see the movies because it uses a player that doesn’t allow it to play well, in the previous versions I could cancel that new player, now I don’t have it, how can I do to play the movies? Thank you

Hello, I have same Issue on my Phlipis 58PUS8505/12. I have two tried things that helped me:

  1. Allow on PLEX DLNA and watching over Local Network implemented in Philips TV.

  2. Install on TV Kodi and Plex plugin. Run Kodi, go to Plex plugin and I can watching on all, what in original Plex after update not working.

Same. Philips PUS (Android TV) seems to have problems of lately. I think they are fixing things, we get weekly updates these days.

I cannot play back mkv files of type V_MPEG4/ISO/AVC with A_VORBIS sound (been thinking to re-watch babylon 5)
it just hangs… in a loop - spinning circle on screen.

Same problem here with 3 Philips PUS model TV’s of various sizes.

A lot of my movies which played fine a few months ago now all just sit and spin.
Annoyingly my pre-roll video still plays and then it stalls when it tries to stream any of my movies.

FYI They have fixed this in the newer versions.
But the problem with plex crashing when exiting playback sadly still exist, and if you try to skip to next video instead of exit back the next video is all distorted/pixelated/wrong size etc. Hopefully they will soon have fixed this as well.

PS. The crashes only happens on one of my philips TVs, the one running Android 5.1 and plex app version 8.18.1.25720. The other TV running Android 8 it all works as it should.

@ursuly69 what was the error message you got?
Can you reproduce the problem?
Is it still happening? For me it works after latest update.

Also: Can you check what version of Android your TV is running and if there is an update, maybe? (automatic updates enabled?) Mine was updated recently and the problem vanished. So people are fixing things :slight_smile:

(TV is Android 8 / Plex is 8.18.1.25719)
