Im losing my damn mind. I just wanted to change a damn password and it logged all my devices off. Then when i log back in its saying i dont have access to my media or its offline. I delete the app and server and reinstall them and still the same issue. I come to this companies site and they dont even let me email for help after ive paid them for a service. This is completely insane. Does anyone know how i can get my server working again? I hate plex at this point. Why the hell would i lose access to all my media even on the computer that is the server because of a password change. And what company gets away with selling a service and offering 0 support for it after? Recommending jellyfin for any friends who ever ask after this… at least that ones free
What sort of support are you expecting from JellyFin?
Reclaim your server.
Changing your password unclaims any servers on your account.
None but unlike plex i dont expect to pay for it either
I wish there was a thumbs down for all the posts that jump to conclusions against Plex when it’s simply user error
I just dont understand how to do it. Ive been trying but honestly who would expect this to happen from changing a password. I logged back in on the same account that had the server claimed why would it be setup to do this.
The reason is ticking this checkbox:
It does not only remove the login tokens of all Plex clients, but also that of all servers.
Plex server is an, err, server. Not some local app for categorizing media files, but an actual server.
As such, it has some stricter security requirements as you may be expecting. One of these is the policy to require authentication from anyone who tries to view or mange the media collection.
And since the user accounts don’t live on your local server machine, but on plex.tv, it means that the server also has to be logged into an account before anyone can access it.
To recover from this, perform the procedure in this post: You need to reclaim your server, but don't dare to touch the Windows Registry
After doing so, use this method to re-claim your server back into your account: New Claiming Requirement for Windows
I jumped to no conclusions so i dont know where you got that from im more frustrated that they charge you for the service and offer no kind of technical support. Im glad you understand how this all works but for those of us just starting to use it. The lack of support is extremely frustrating after paying for a service. Someone else from the forums had me delete a bunch of stuff from the plex registry and ive been unable to use my server or do anything with it for 2 days now. I still havent gotten it to work again even after a full uninstall and reinstall of both the pex software and the media server software. So if you dont mind helping id appreciate it but if your going to come here just to troll post please keep it to yourself.
Are you by chance a customer of a certain Portuguese ISP?
I’m seeing quite a few reports lately, of trouble with claiming servers.
Most users had success by changing the DNS server for the server (or the whole private network) to the known working 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8
Another user reported that removing support for the IPv6 protocol from the network adapter worked for him.
