Desperate, Reset Password and Now Everything is Lost

Server Version#: I don’t know what this means
Player Version#: Most recent?
<If providing server logs please do NOT turn on verbose logging, only debug logging should be enabled>

Hello, I am a complete a novice with 0 networking experience and barely any IT experience whatsoever. Somehow, I was able to get a Plex server successfully running in my apartment several weeks ago. Everything has been working flawlessly.

However, I’ve made the terrible decision of changing my password. Now, Plex is telling me that I am not authorized and do not have access to my server. I can no longer access any of my content. I have been reading forums and have been on reddit for several hours and I am completely at wit’s end trying to figure it out. I would just delete my account and make another one, but I JUST purchased Plex Pass this morning and do not want to waste the money I’ve already spent.

Every response I’ve seen on Reddit and on forums is like a completely different language to me. It is important to understand that I am NOT a technical person at all. I have trouble understanding how such a simple issue seems to require such a complex fix. I will not be able to code, program, “run scripts,” or anything similar. I’m using Windows.

Is any please able to help me? I’m desperate.

Thank you!!!

If you change your password, it unclaims the server (removes it from your account).

If Plex Media Server is running, you should see a Plex icon in the Windows Taskbar, in the lower right corner.

Double click on it. It should open a web browser to http://127.0.0.1:32400/web.

You should then be able to login, reach the server settings, and claim the server.

Alternately, see You need to reclaim your server, but don’t dare to touch the Windows Registry , and use Method 1.

Thank you for the quick response! I double clicked on it, it did indeed open the web browser to what you mentioned, and I was able to log in, but I am still experiencing the same exact issue

Suddenly, it’s working. I ended up deleting the server entirely, restarting Plex, and somehow it’s working…for now. Not sure what fixed it, exactly. Thank you so much, though!
