I Fixed my RoKu Plex Update issue!

First I’m using Plex version 8.6.4.1057-11589ce23Plex on a Roku TLC TV. I went though a bunch of unnecessary steps and all I needed to do was a Hard Reset!!

Updating everything! (was a waste of time) I reinstalled Plex on Roku but it wasn’t until I Power Cycled that the features started working. I had to literally unplug the TV from the wall for 30sec.

  1. Restart / Power cycle device- simply turning off the TV/Roku, disconnecting power for a minute, then powering it back on Fixes Everything. Won’t fix the horrible UI but, let me know if it works for you!

Complete disaster on a rollout where no one was informed and the Plex UI is less functional. Hate it.

Plex, you made a change to your UI and ROKU cannot navigate around the screen. Why did you change the UI without informing your users? Why did you not provide a fall back option if your 3rd party partners could not support your change.

FIXED NEEDED:

  1. Provide option for menu list on side as previous. Many do not like the horizontal list at top. Takes up too much screen. You should ALWAYS provide an option for legacy features and you failed.

  2. Provide option to deep hide some libraries that are not easily viewable. Now all libraries are easily accessed at the top of the screen when previously you had to scroll down the veridical list, then click on server and then click some more to get to hidden libraries. Either find a way to hide them more or best case add for 4 digit passcode on user selected libraries so if accessed. .

Next time, do your due diligence. What a colossal failure.

I contacted Roku and customer support was not helpful. However, someone at Roku got the word as functionality returned around 12:45 am this morning. I had previously rebooted but the update was made eventually without having to restart.

Hopefully, all is still working now for Roku.

However, the matter now is no one likes the Plex UI. Horrific comments on the UI including those that I listed.

Plex failed their users for sure without fall back options to previous experience.

No Joy. I removed Plex app and power rebooted Roku, then reinstalled app. No change.

Reboot Roku and still cannot even sign in. Tells me use could not be authenticated. After 3 tries it says multiple attempts on the IP and locks out. What a bunch of morons running this ■■■■ show!

I did the same thing and I had to unplug after the reinstall. What streaming device are you using?

Are you running a Plex server or just the player?
