i’m more or less new to plex, but after 2 days of nerv recking bullshit from plex i give up.
i started with only 1 series, but i will not work…i tried Game of Thrones, at first i just had the naming as it was, there i got season 1,4,7,8 right and the rest of the seasons separate without a picture… (all episodes had the same naming scheme)
after searching for answers i changed the naming and location.
now it is at “Game of Thrones\Game of Thrones - Season 0x\Game of Thrones - 1x01…mkv” and all season renamed with filebot after tvdb…
no i have season 2 and 4 right and the rest is all separate series…that really sucks -_-
when i rename the folders of the seasons not Game of Thrones - Season 0x, but only Season 01, 02…
Then, and this the best thing i’ve ever seen… i got in plex 2 seasons GoT, 1 season Ellen, 1 season dragonball z, 1 season american dad, 1 season pokemon!, 1season top gear… and i dont even have these series!!!

First make a folder for your tvshows
Then add a folder with the series and its name (Game of Thrones)
Then inside the series add folders with Season 01, Season 02 and so on
The episodes themselves are mostly correct.
Don’t expect any program to gather your stuff if you do not first help it by first making the stuff compliant to some type of organization it will understand.
Also to add if you are using filebot they have their own dedicated naming schema for Plex.

You need a master directory…
Lets call it TV Shows
You point Plex to that directory.
Do not go deeper. ie do not point Plex to individual shows.
Thats exactly as it is… i’ve read that article…
BUT
i wanted to first make one list the series and want to watch separate, for that i directly used the folder of the series…
ok so i need to have a superordinate folder for it to work…ok i have to rethink what i want
Glad it helped.
It can be daunting at first for sure.
However now you have the basics right anything you add in the future inside that “TV Shows” folder Plex will pick up all on its own (subject to correct naming).
For movies obviously its the same idea. Just point to the master folder.
