Both servers show up. I was able to copy movie files over without a problem. At least I thought that there wasn’t a problem.
On the newly created server, any of my movies that I also have extended versions of, are not showing up on the new server. But yet, they are on the old server.
Example: I have both editions of the Lord of the Rings, the theatrical version and the extended version. On my first server (my original server), both of the movies show up. On my new server, even though both of the movie files are identical to the first server, only one movie is showing up. Why?
I know that I named the file correctly because the original server has recognized it and has the movies listed as two seperate movies, one extended version and the other theatrical version.
Without further details, I guess this is an issue with your file naming / organization. If the files don’t match Plex‘s naming schema for different editions, Plex has probably recognized them as different-quality versions.
You should be able to verify this…
(a) if there’s a „Play Version“ option in the item‘s context menu
(b) click „Edit“ and select the „Information“ tab; if there’s multiple versions, all associated files should be listed there
You might have manually split apart the files into separate items and assigned the edition tag in Plex.
To avoid this from happening, it’s best to name the files/folders to include the edition tags.
You are exactly right! Both versions were there all along. They just needed to be separated. Weird how my other Plex media server did not do that. I thought I named the file folders correctly. This is what I named the extended edition: * /movies/Movies/The Lord of the Rings The Fellowship of the Ring - (2002) - {Edition - Extended Edition}/The Lord of the Rings The Fellowship of the Ring - (2002) - {Edition - Extended Edition}.mkv
The spaces around the - after the edition tag might make a difference.
