I have a new comuter (Windows) so i signed out of Plex on my old one, moved my movies and TV shows to the new computer. I then installed Plex Media Server and Plex for windows and signed in but I cannot even see my media. I f I go to My Media in the app it takes me to Plex Media Server but I can see no way to direct Plex Media Server to my media folders. Please help
Did you move the Plex Media Server configuration to the new machine? If you did not copy the PMS config, then you will have to re-add all of your media to the new Plex Media Server you installed on the new machine. Until that happens, the Plex clients will simply be looking at an empty server. Does that make sense?
Thanks for tip. Where will I find that file you mentioned? I may have deleted it in my frustration. What I would like to is start again as a new user on my new computer but because my email is registered it wont let me do that so I’m not sure how to get around that. I appreciate the help. Thanks.
This link may help you find, and move, the plex installation to a new server. These methods help preserve the contents and settings so that you don’t have to recreate the entire system.
