Had to do fresh install, now can't use server

hi, hoping it is something simple. my plex server is on my desktop computer. due to an unrelated issue, i had to do a fresh install of windows and all programs files etc.

i copied the folders that contain my original files. i also copied the folder that was called plex media server from

%LOCALAPPDATA%\Plex Media Server

i have pasted all the files onto the fresh install in the same places i copied them from on the old install.

when signing into the plex web page none of my files show, and it displays the message ’ my computer is currently unavailable’ and verify your server is online.

is there something i am missing? i realise i could point the folders to the original files again, but hoped i could link it to the server files that were created

cheers in advance

Keep in mind you only copied the media and server data directory. Unless you also transferred the registry configuration, plex will consider this a new install. In order to complete the setup and re-link it with your account… make sure to open Plex through the bundled/local version of Plex Web:

  • if you’re on the very same machine… open http://127.0.0.1:32400/web in your browser
  • if you’re on a different machine inside your home network… open http://[PMS IP address]:32400/web in your browser instead

This should display the setup wizard… just click through that until you get to the point where you link your server to your account. The actual libraries etc. should then still be there.
