I have a “non-existent” unread item

Every time I refresh or reload, I get an unread post. When I click on it, nothing is there.

Is this a cache issue or something else (I’ve logged out, reloaded from origin but on iPad and not sure how to clear my cache),

I’m not sure what it could be. I’ll look into it. Are you watching any categories?

Or maybe an empty draft you created?

Thanks for replying, both.

No unsaved drafts and I am only watching service-announcements:

If so, and I can not promise anything on behalf of @BigWheel here, but he is the King of the forums :heart_eyes:

Maybe share the url to the msg next time you see it, so he can investigate if possible?

There is no url, per se.

If I click on “unread (1)”, I get this;

That link is:

https://forums.plex.tv/unread

Same here started this morning.

it seems this has been happening on Discourse forums for a while and they have trouble tracking it down. Looks like it is either

  1. due to reply deletions. ( possibly it was flagged and removed).
  2. there are multiple instances of forums open on on various devices or tabs and things are syncing weird.
  3. someone @mentioned linked to your post, quoted you or similar in a category or tagged topic that you have muted.

I’m assuming you don’t have any new notifications in the user menu on top right

That’s correct, I don’t

It’s none of that here, it happens on most page loads and I’m only following a single thread for software updates, it hardly ever actually gets touched.

Even after just leaving the reply above, there it is again.

@JCHH

Next time you have the notification, does it then also shows on a different browser?
As in cookies gone bad

Yes, I can see it on both my Mac and iPad.

It happens every time I reload the page so I can recreate it immediately.

there…

not there…

there again…

those screenshots were seconds apart.

Had this happen this week on my own forums. Here’s how to fix it.

A more permanent solution is also on the way:
