So I upgraded my Synology Nas DS118. Its a single bay nas so when I swaped discs I needed to reset everything. That made my system to upgrade to the latest version. (DSM 7.0-41890).
I tried to download the Plex media server beta but my server is not being found. the server is started but its not being recognized.
I noticed that I dont have a plex user on my synology nas. But I can go into the internal apps and give read/write access to plex media server.
I have no idea what to do. Basicly a completely new system with no data on it. All I want is to run plex media server and have the server show up on my old account
Here’s the full detail of what changed (it’s pretty daunting)
That having been said.
Don’t download from Package Center right now. Synology is behind on updating apps (they have so many to test and update in the package center). Download from Plex.tv instead (you want the ARMv8 package)
The Package Center version is beta. We are not BETA anymore.
Use the PlexPass download version. It has a just-released (well tested too) package installation scripting.
In that new packaging, You will see a “Plex Claim Token” option,
a. Click “Install using Plex Claim Token”
b. Click the link to get a new token (the blue one)
c. Copy that link from your browser
d. Paste it back into the window on the Installer GUI
e. Continue installing.
The installer will communicate with Plex.tv and claim your server to your account again. When you again open Plex/web, your server will be there. You can go to Settings - Authorized Devices - Server (dropdown) and remove the old DSM 6 one.
