I have installed plex server on synology, but i cannot see servers option in web.

Yes there is but you must put that registered domain on a secondary adapter (not the default) and you must import the domain into PMS.
Your default adapter (Default Gateway in Synology terms) must be on the LAN and not a WAN address.

@ChuckPA

I wanted to do a complete reinstall of my PMS on my synology 1815+ since backing it up and all data in the Plex folder did not work. Unfortunately when I did there is now server showing up. I’ve checked the permissions and I’m logged into my DSM as the Admin. What can you recommend please.

Just did that and its the same results. No diskstation no server

FYI Plex Ninja, I did a complete reset of my synology system about 5 days ago.

PMS is installed on the synology how would it not be able to reach it?

I have 2 bonded pairs with 192.168.0.xx

Sorry that was apparently way to short of an abbreviation. When I open PMS I don’t see the diskstation and when I go to the server tap it says no servers. I currently have 2 bonded pairs on my synology as I did when it last worked. Plex has been running since you told me to delete those 2 files. just checked package center its still running. I’m currently in different state than my NAS but I’m connected through the synology VPN which allows me to connect to the DSM as if I’m locally home

Thank You, I just used Team Viewer on a PC that is home and connected locally. It’s working just find and I was able to add my library!!! Thanks

@trumpy81

After successful install I’ve noticed a number of movies are missing metadata information. I’ve scanned my library file several time and it has not changed. If I hit refresh metedata I get finished processing ā€œmovie nameā€ then I have to hit Fix match then click the correct file name and all is well. Is there a way for me to re-run something so PMS can pickup the missing metadata?

Running synology 1815+

Fixed! In case anyone else needs this info I simply went to Setting then Servers then Agent and under plex movie as well as movie database I re-arranged the list so plex movie and movie database was on top

Thaks @trumpy81 I realized in my server settings under agent the the plex movie and the moviedata base were at the bottom of the list. Once I put them to the top all files were scanned successfully. Thank you!

Just a thank you note - this worked perfectly. I have two PLEX servers at home (PC and NAS) and both of them started acting wonky to the point that no device in the house could see them. I upgraded them both but the NAS version would never show up as a server, only a client. Your advice fixed it!

Guys, I’ve found a definitive solution. You should uninstall plex, then enable ssh, connect, and then move the folder /volume1/Plex to /volume1/oldPlex. Reinstall, and be happy again. Thanks.

Thanks @ChuckPa, your instructions sorted out my problems and got the server up and running

Simply renaming is not the best answer.

  1. In the Plex share.
  2. Rename Library to Library.old
  3. Install fresh
  4. Transfer any needed information
  5. Delete Library.old.
