I have to remove unavailable tv-show files manually

So I have started to swap TV-shows to h.265 files to get more space on my drives. I remove the old files and add the new ones and then I press “empty trash” after scanning the library. But the old files that I have deleted still stays in the library and says “unavailable” and also shows the new files that I have added. And this have worked for me like forever until like some months ago and I have to remove the old files on the plex library manually which takes to much time… I have lots of libraries and “empty trash” works in everyone but this TV-Show library… So what could I do to fix this? I don’t wanna remove the whole library and redo all metadata and tags… So please could someone help me?

Have you tried “Refresh Metadata” on that show after the file swap out?

Yes I dosen’t make a difference, thanks anyways.

What about library rescan? I have mine set to automatic rescan. Sometimes I will get that “Unavailable” marking. Sometimes toggle back and forth to the next or previous make my browser refresh and it will show as available. Sometimes I will go and “touch” the file (I’m on Linux) and that will tickle the file attributes and make Plex do a refresh. I don’t think Windows has that kind of a cmd. I think you’d have to move that episode out of the library, do a rescan to see that episode disappear, then move that episode back to the season folder and rescan.

I’ve also seen in some posts that this might indicate a DB problem

  1. Edit the library
  2. go to the Add Folders tab
  3. ensure that every folder path on this tab is
    a) existent
    b) accessible to Plex server
    c) not completely empty

If that doesn’t change anything, repair the database files:
Stop Plex server using its task tray icon
open a command line window (cmd.exe) and run this .bat file: https://github.com/ChuckPa/DBRepair/tree/master/Windows

Thank you! I had some empty folders in the library and when I removed them it worked to empty trash.
