I just bought a Synology DS220j Nas and I’m having issues of not being authorized when loading the Plex server package

Server Version#:
Player Version#:

I have a Synology DS220J NAS And I can’t seem to get Plex media server to work. When I open the app on my NAS It tells me that I’m not authorized?

IIRC Plex isn’t dealing well through Synology’s “Quick Connect”.
Can you access your server ok using its local IP address (based on the above screenshot that should be http://192.168.0.60:32400/web) or through the hosted version of the Plex web app (https://app.plex.tv/desktop)?

Yes, to both.
Now what do I do?

Would you please open FileStation,

Navigate to PlexMediaServer/ AppData / Plex Media Server

Right-click “Logs” → “Compress to Logs.zip”

When complete, download to your computer.

Attach that ZIP file here for review.

Here is the zip fileLogs.zip (11.7 KB)

@crush72770_gmail_com

Would you mind uploading that again please?

I only got a partial ZIP file – which is invalid and cannot be opened.

Normal size is about 800K → 4MB when zipped. Your upload is only 11KB

Please make certain to give it enough time to complete the upload (a URL will be printed in the reply window when complete) before clicking “Reply”

Logs.zip (11.7 KB)

Try this one. Logs.zip (2.1 MB)

Thanks for that. Got it that time.

PMS is starting up ok.

  • What is the IP address of the computer you’re using? Is it 192.168.0.X ?
  • Also are you using a Domain Name to open in your browser ?

Your logs are showing me that there is no attempt to authenticate.

This happens when PMS sees:

  1. Attempt to access it from another LAN subnet or if you are remote to it.
  2. Access it with a Domain Name before it’s associated with your account.

It will ignore any attempt to access it beyond providing the initial client (Plex/web) to load into the browser.

It’s PMS’ default security protecting your media.

I’m attempting to use a Synology DS220J NAS server that I just bought.

I’m a novice and this is my first Nas. I am opening the Plex app package from the Synology NAS.

Do you see in the address bar of your browser?

See the “quickconnect.to” ?

This is something you wouldn’t know about. quickconnect.to is a domain name.
When Synology gives your browser that link, IF this is the initial setup of PMS, Plex’s security kicks in

The easiest way forward here (until you get through the setup)

  1. Open a regular browser window
  2. type: http://192.168.0.60:32400/web (or click the link I just created here for you)
  3. Now you’ll be free of the domain.
  4. The browser will load.
  5. You should see “Got It” and normal Signing in.
  6. It will probably also ask if you want to “Claim” the server – You do.
  7. After that, the setup wizard will start where you can create library sections for your media.

Thank you so much. It is working :grinning::smiley::grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
