I keep getting annoying "New sign-in to your Plex account" emails

I constantly get these annoying “New sign-in to your Plex account” emails.

How can I disable this feature? It is SUPER annoying and just bloats my email inbox for no good reason.

If a setting exists already, what is it?
If a setting doesn’t exist, can it be added as an option to opt-out of these emails please?

Thanks!

There is no opt out from these messages.

But you should tackle the issue at the source.
I assume that 99% of these are triggered by you logging in to your Plex account in a web browser.
If this happens on a device which is under your control (i.e. not a shared computer at work etc.), then you should really instruct the web browser to NOT delete the cookies from the domain plex.tv when it’s being closed.

i might just setup a filter to delete those msg from gmail. either way could work.
or Plex could simply add the option to opt-out, it really makes the most sense.

But doing so can also mean that you won’t get a warning if someone manages to guess your password and hijack your plex account.
And cleaning up that kind of mess is even more annoying, IMHO.

Just allow cookies for the domain plex.tv in your Chrome.
(If you don’t want to do that because you somehow are of the opinion that cookies are something bad and need to be avoided at all costs, please say so.)

yes I’m not a fan of cookies!

They are tasty! And contrary to what some shady app developers (or clueless politicians) are trying to tell you, there is nothing nefarious about them per se.
As soon as you log into your Plex account, there is a cookie created anyway. The only difference is that it lasts only as long as the browser tab with the plex web app is open. So any concerns about privacy are kinda pointless. You are providing your account credentials for logging in, ergo you can be identified anyway (by plex.tv, that is). Deleting that cookie doesn’t change anything about that.

If you let your browser preserve that cookie, you don’t need to login every time. And any player-related settings and preferences are preserved for the next session.
And other web sites are not allowed to access that cookie, so I don’t really understand what you are concerned about.

security basically, i’m on a laptop - if that laptop is stolen out of my house or when I’m out and about with it, the cookies left behind could easily be used to enter various accounts of mine simply because the cookie exists.

still doesn’t explain away not having an option to disable the emails. or some feature to manually add white-listed IPs or hardware addresses and assume it’s always known/approved (thus it’s something stored in the cloud, not a local cookie, and security is better off that way tbh).

If you used 2-factor authentication you could stay logged in and leave those Plex cookies alone. If someone stole your laptop they could watch your Plex content until you changed your password, but would not be able to steal your account due to 2FA.
