Why is "Automatically Sign In" frequently disabled?

Time and time again, be it updates or other reasons unknown, the option to automatically sign-in is frequently disabled (in addition to frequent log outs). I’m not sure if this is a bug or a “feature” but I’d sure like to know how to stop it. When I sign in, I expect to remain signed in until 1) I manually log out or 2) delete cookies on my browser.

How can I stop this behavior?

Thank you

Server: Ubuntu 17.10
PMS: version 1.11.0.4633
Plex Web version: Version 3.31.1
Browser: Safari 11.0.2 on MacOS 10.13.2

  1. tell your browser not to delete cookies and other data for the following domains:
  • plex.direct
  • plex.tv
  • plex.services
  • the internal, private IP of your Plex Server
  • 127.0.0.1 (only if the web browser runs on the same machine as Plex Server)
  1. Make sure that both server and client(s) always have correct date/time. Set up an NTP client if necessary

  2. it makes a difference whether you use the ‘local’ web app or the ‘hosted’ web app. They each use a different set of cookies. So all their settings are separate from each other.

Hi.

The only way to delete cookies on Safari is manually so I can’t really tell it to do something it’s not doing already. Next, I do run NTP on my lan, all devices sync to server. Finally, I’m using Safari to connect to plex web and I’m logged off, generally, when I update Plex Media server and only occurs on Plex Web. Apps on iOS are unaffected by PMS upgrades.

Not sure your post helped me much but thank you for the reply.

I’m bumping this topic because it is still happening, 2 years later. I understand that when/if i delete my cookies, naturally, i’ll have to log in to all sites from scratch. This isn’t the case. This morning, i opened Plex via Safari and was prompted for my user’s PIN… And then in settings, the option “automatically sign in” has unchecked itself. All was fine last night. So, this isn’t a cookie issue, seems like it could be a PMS bug.
