hey guys, does anybody know why this may be happening? I am running PMS 0.9.12.8.1362-4601.e39 on Synology 214play. I’ve just updated to this build and the issues persists (as it did on the previous version of PMS).
For example, I try to update the incorrectly matched album title or any other metadata and when I click save, the message “Your changes cannot be saved” pops up and the metadata reverts to what was initially there.
I am accessing the PMS through Chrome on a Windows 7 machine.
lots of previous forum posts for this error - suggest first quick search and browse the search results
If no clues and problem persists please enable Debug Logging on Plex Media server, restart the server and repeat the action and take a screenshot of the error screen (full screenshot - showing url and time) and attach together with Plex Media Server.log
Hey, thanks for the reply. I had tried browsing the forums but could still not resolve the issue. As suggested, I am attaching the screen shot and the log files. Thanks.

Good that the server is validating the date now - previously it allowed it to go to the database and corrupt it
Aug 23, 2015 12:05:17 [0xb0735b70] ERROR - Invalid date specified for originallyAvailableAt: 1996
Aug 23, 2015 12:05:17 [0xb0735b70] ERROR - Exception inside transaction (inside=1) (../Library/Endpoints/PutSectionAll.h:668): Couldn't validate input: 1996 for originally_available_at
Aug 23, 2015 12:05:17 [0xb0735b70] ERROR - Exception handled: Couldn't validate input: 1996 for originally_available_at
I will see what is planned here - because i thought we would set the template on the screen for entering the date giving the right syntax
The Date is not the only issue. I’ve also had a similar issue with not being able to update, for example, the ‘Album’ field or ‘Sort Album’ field.
Additionally, this appears to be a more recent issue. A few months ago when I was doing a lot of editing of my collection (on an earlier version of PMS), this was never an issue.

I can only do one error at a time. You got failure to save because of the date. I pasted in the post the detail from the log. There may be other issues but these are not visible to me. There was only the Originally Available date error that gave rise to the failure to save.
We can proceed with the next issue but each needs it diagnostic as one cannot guess what issues are
There may be other issues but each is a separate issue - they could all give rise to the same end error message
Previous releases of Plex Media Server allowed invalid entry of dates but subsequently gave errors on access with media being not visible in thumbnail views
I’ve found that I could change/delete all details as long as there was something in the YEAR field and the RATING field. And it was okay to enter a zero in both of these. It saved, and when opened again, the RATING would be 0, and the YEAR would be blank, which is what I wanted - although I could not delete nor “space out” the YEAR field; had to have a 0 in it in order to save. Hope this helps someone else.
All these years later and it seems this sort of issue still happens. Thanks to you, mrw1480plex, I can now save manual data into my various shows in Plex. Adding a date and a zero in the rating field, allowed me to save. I was then able to go back and enter the other date (such as studio) and save without error.
I did have to have a full date though, not just a year. So for instance, 2012-04-01.
