Some additional information: I've already searched through the forums for other reports of the same error, and I've seen quite a few. However, I've not found a suitable resolution. The closest thing I found to a resolution was a user who recommended disabling LastPass. I tried opening Safari (which does not have LastPass installed on it) and I continue to get the same error. Additionally, I've tried making metadata changes from the Plex server itself, which does not have LastPass installed on it at all, and the error persists.
I'm willing to follow any troubleshooting steps necessary -- but I would appreciate some support from the Plex staff on this one.
Hi, Do you mind providing fresh debug Plex Media Server logs that cover the time from starting Plex Media Server till after you see the error with saving metadata changes? This should help us with finding the cause of this issue. It sounds like it might not a browser plugin/extension issue (as you reported that you have tried different browsers) but please do ensure that any extensions/plugins are disabled in your browser just in case they are causing an issue.
I’m having this problem with some of my music files. It’s like Plex isn’t able to overwrite the metadata for some reason. I’m finding that I’m able to fix those files by using MusicBrainz Picard (free download), but it’s still proving to be a P.I.T.A.
I thought that using Plex’s recommended naming scheme (Library \ Album Artist - Album Name \ Track Number - Track Name) would be enough for Plex to organize the media properly, but it’s like Plex isn’t even looking at that.
One of the biggest problems I’m having is Plex wants to match tracks to compilation albums (like "Now that’s what I call music volume 3452346) instead of the original release album. I’m seriously considering wiping all the metadata from my library and giving Plex a clean slate to start from.
