I add media and lose old files from the database, but the actual data is still there and has not moved. Can anyone tell me why? and a quick fix rather than wipe the database and start again.
Are you using a NAS or external hard drives which are allowed to spin down their platters when idle?
If so, try disabling
Settings - Server - Library - “Empty trash automatically after every scan”
then monitor if the behaviour improves.
I am using a network drive, and it’s set to empty trash, the last time I had this problem I created a second media directory on the drive and mapped it independently and that worked for a while. its as if there is a limit on the database size for a single location. But I have not been able to find that limitation anywhere?
