I lose internet access on my Plex server, two different machines

After a year of using Plex, my Plex server began to lose access to the Internet every few days. I continued to have to reset my cable router to get it to reconnect. No other devices on my network lost access. Changed Ethernet cables, no change. Assumed it was the laptop I was using so I moved my Plex server to a different desktop. Now, on this new server, the loss of access to the Internet continues. Is this a common issue, is there a fix for this?

Try if the connection returns after you

  • stop plex server using its task tray icon
  • wait a few seconds
  • start plex server regularly using the Start menu
