I need help getting plex to run after install of Windows 11

I recently upgraded my PC from windows 10 to 11 and unfortunately i forgot that my plex server was up and running at the time of the upgrade.
when window 11 came up everything was as it should be except my plex server.
I tried reinstalling the program on my pc and I keep getting an error saying Plex can’t find the database.I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling it multiple times. 'I can’t get it to run because of the error, I’ve also tried to find the data base through Windows search No Luck
PLEASE Help

Can you remember if you have moved the Plex data folder away from its default location?
If you did, verify that the drive where it was moved to still has the same drive letter as it did under Windows 10.
(If you cannot remember what drive letter it was, take a look into the registry and see where the relevant key is pointing to [HowTo] An extended guide on how to move the Plex data folder on Windows )

I hope you didn’t switch from a local user account to a Microsoft account during the OS upgrade?

Hi Otto,
Thanks for your fast response.
I didn’t move the Plex data folder, from it’s default location, in windows 10.
But when I couldn’t get Plex to run, I uninstalled it using Revo uninstaller to remove all traces of it, so I could start fresh.
I will see if i can look into the registry and see what i can find, although I’m not a PC noob I try to avoid going into the registry, but cause i don’t feel confident working in that area.
Thanks again!

Addition

when I tried to find this Location: /Plug-in Support/Databases/com.plexapp.plugins.library.db
using search it says it cannot be found,

The error Message i get when I try to open Plex is :

Plex Media Server was unable to open media database.
Which I don’t understand why this is preventing Plex from creating a fresh new database.

I looked in to the registry and this is what i see

That was a mistake. Don’t use that software, it does more damage than good.
There are numerous threads in this forum, who had a hard time getting Plex server to install after doing the same.

This looks like the registry of a Windows user account which never had Plex server installed before. Most likely a result of you using the uninstaller app.

The uninstaller also made sure that none of your old Plex library data survived.

At this point, I can only recommend a clean un-installation, using the Microsoft tool linked in here: https://support.plex.tv/articles/202967086-windows-errors-trying-to-upgrade-install-or-uninstall-plex-media-server/

Then install Plex server regularly, using all default settings.
If you still use that Avast anti virus software, disable it.
Make sure that your drive C: has plenty of free space available.
After the installation, keep in mind that connecting the new server to your Plex account is now different than it was before: New Claiming Requirement for Windows

I had the exact problem you had after upgrading to Windows 11. Found this simple solution thru a myriad of other ideas and got lucky. This solution got my Plex media server running and back to normal. Here is the path I used - Opened up my C drive (or where ever you have your media server) / Program files / Plex / Plex media server / Plex Media Server.exe - After I clicked on the last entry (Plex Media Server. exe, the program updated and everything worked like normal. Hope this helps someone else out there
