Anyone feel regret after updating to plex pass. Ever since I bought the lifetime pass, I’ve had nothing but issues playing movies. Alot of them seem to never work anymore (transcoding error or codec error). Even the same movies I would consistently watch with my kids don’t work anymore. I’ve tried everything even deleted library and start over. It’s just a hassle.
Have you considered actually asking for help and posting details of the problem(s) with logs etc.?
Plex is not perfect but for a software system as large and diverse as Plex is it is remarkably problem free.
So far the few true errors I have had, excluding the Shield server issues, have been quickly corrected or explained.
BTW: Having or not having a Plex Pass has absolutely nothing to do with 99.99% of the errors people have and that other 0.01% are not errors caused by Plex Pass but rather errors in parts of Plex that are Plex Pass only.
Again ask for help and post logs and details of the problem(s) and you will probably get the help you need.
Nope. I cinsider it some of the best money I have ever spent.
Now that I am usung DVR/Live TV I feel I am ripping Plex off.
Is it perfect? Nope. But we get so much use out of Plex that the money spent on a Plex Pass is money well spent, IMHO.
Plex Pass opened up the power of the platform.

The problem is when I updated the server to the plex pass version. Did you read my complaint? Alot of the movies I always played no longer work with plex pass version.

Logs?? Details?? Exact information is the only way to get help. Saying “It’s broke” does not give the information that anyone would need to help you.
You did not even say what platform you are using for your Plex server nor did you say what client you are using. The people here are pretty good at diagnosing problems and discerning solutions but they are not magicians and cannot help at all without the basic info. They particularly need to know the server system, what error is being seen (and when) and they need to see logs. Not verbose logs but regular logs that can now be easily retrieved and zipped up and attached here.
With that info as a start there is a pretty good chance that someone can help.
Edit: You can easily go back to an earlier version of Plex if you want. It is just a matter of uninstalling and then installing what you want.

Read your complaint. Makes no sense. I think you changed something after the upgrade.
Many plex pass users are not that tech savvy. They pay for the product and expect it to work at least as good as the free version without knowing that plex pass versions are actually beta versions. As in: you pay us, we include you in the beta test “for free”.
I even put out a request for more stability vs new features in the dedicated forums. Not much interest in that
@EMaldonado27, just downgrade to the latest public version and don’t use plex pass (beta) versions.
Even pubic versions will cause you lots of head aches, but not at beta level.
Important to remember is that there is no need to use the Plex pass download as such to get the perks involved with a pass. The public release still gives you the same Plex pass stuff (Premium music etc etc).No one is forcing any one to use the latest and sometimes unstable versions (though you need to be above 1.5 in version if I remember correctly due to underlying changes, it is mandatory).

+1…
On a side note about Plex Pass… I have a rather large library and run Plex on a powerful NAS. By today’s standards, Plex is a diamond in the rough. Even if I didn’t need the added features that come with Plex Pass, I still would have bought a lifetime pass. In fact, I almost feel guilty about it and wonder where the donate button is.

I would not say that is true. Most of Plex Pass is additional functionality that is long been out of Beta. However with that said you also get the ability to run/use some parts of the system that is only available to Plex-Pass users such as DVR & LiveTV at present.
Of course as a Plex-Pass users you can certainly continue to use the release version of the software instead of the PP version. Nothing wrong with doing this at all if you don’t like living on the bleeding-edge. This still allows you to use PP only features with a bit more matured software.
