Paying to have errors fixed?!

I have a question.

There is an error in the free server edition running right now (1.9.6.4429) causing anything being watched to crash constantly. It acts like the hard drive has been removed.

This error has been fixed, for paying members, but for us free users it is still there. Like we are being given errors to force us to upgrade in order to get a usable server.

Why is this happening? Why hasn’t’ this fix been rolled out to everyone?

Thanks.

There are often a lot of reasons why a Plex Pass release isn’t pushed out to the public release - other bugs found, other features still being added, etc. Plex does not hold releases to force people to pay for Plex Pass.

I’ve just gone and purchased a lifetime pass. How long will I have to wait for the error to be fixed?

Plex doesn’t release timelines for their products. It will be released when it’s ready.

Other people have said they got a newer release and the error isnt happening - https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/296113/help-plex-keeps-stopping-playback#latest

I am on an older version that the server says is the most up to date. But other who have had the more recent releases don’t have this issue anymore.

Through some magic - unknown to me - you change your forum account over to Plex Pass - then you download manually the Plex Pass version of PMS with the fix - in another mysterious sequence of events.

@kegobeer-plex ? Divulge the info! NOW!
(before @richardhanney pops a vein)

Thank’s I’ll try that and see how it goes

I think - but do not know for sure - you have to go get that PPer Version manually - and let me be the first to welcome you to the paid Beta Testers that fix this **** before I get it - and pop a vein…

:stuck_out_tongue:

When you’re Plex pass you have to set the update channel to Plex pass so it checks for newer releases there. You can also just download the latest version on Plex.TV

On Linux this is always a manual download
