I remain unhappy with "plex vista"

Giving people a vertical list was not the solution

[/quote]

I’m confused. You want vertical but it isn’t the solution?

It has to be left? Why?

The pulldown doesn’t hide anything because it usually isn’t there unless you are moving through it, thus your focus is the menu, not what’s behind it.

Removing the left menu also allows your content to fill the screen.

Maybe I’m missing something but the pulldown feels quite natural and shows you all your libraries just like the left menu.

The one thing different is that the screen doesn’t update automatically as you move through the menu, which it did before, however, the benefit is the ability to move quickly through the menu and the submenu is right there.

I guess they could do a left menu with flyout sub menus, but that left menu takes up a lot of space when it is expanded.

@Kilgry You really need to reread what I posted as well as what others have posted. I will attempt to make it more simple for you. As clearly you have not used the previous UI.

Yes. Users want vertical Home and Library buttons. Like the previous UI.

So NO. What is presented in the new UI is NOT the solution. As I mentioned in the original post, the home and library buttons are still TOP Center. Where most users do not want them to be.

The Original Vertical Menu did NOT get in the way of the Media. It Only appeared when you kept moving to the left. It would hide when you went to home screen or library of your choice.

Here is another screenshot. Notice the icons to the left. They are better situated and accessible.

Other long time users can explain this to you as well…

Still not as useful or quick as having each library instantly visible accessible and the view (recommended, browse, collection) for each one remembered on each individual device though.

The way it used to be and how most want it to return to. Vertical home and libraries to the left, stacked vertically and out of the way. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

That’s one of the problems. That Navigation is in the middle of the screen, overlapping content. I don’t recall seeing this way of presenting a navigation, right in the middle of the screen. But what do I know. Maybe it’s a new design paradigm.

And the navigation items with heavy rounded corners inside a list with soft rounded corners look really weird. Giving those nav items a lower border-radius - less rounded corners - it would probably not look that strange.

The left-hand menu would expand, pushing your content on the right off the screen, thus hiding it too.

Look, no menu (or a bunch of repeating non-descript icons) to get in the way at all or clutter the UI:

They need to move that damn 1080p and Stereo AAC off the pic and put it over to the left with all the other details about the movie. Why they haven’t done that I don’t understand.

Clearly you are not paying attention to what I mentioned in the previous post.

Most users want their HOME and LIBRARY icons to the far left and for access. Not the top center.
When you access them from the top the drop down menus DO get in the way when you access them.

Again. Users want the Home & Library buttons TO THE LEFT & VERTICAL. THAT is issue most are having. THAT is what they are complaining about.

Your screenshot only points out this discrepancy.

The current way of access libraries and home creates extra steps to access libraries and collections that most of us rather do without.

The below screen shot as how I want to access my libraries. Like most of us.

If you like the new way. Then great. Many of us do not. Which is why we are posting our complaints. Enjoy your media.

Pushing the content to the right of the screen happened only when accessing the libraries or home. But quickly collapsed when accessing content yet still readily accessible in a non-clustered or nested way.

From the Home screen, how many clicks did the old UI take to get to your top library’s collection? Now, how many in the new UI?

I count (I don’t have old UI on non-mouse device so going by memory):

OLD: LEFT, DOWN, RIGHT, UP, RIGHT, RIGHT, OK, DOWN – (7)

NEW: BACK, RIGHT, DOWN, RIGHT, DOWN, DOWN, OK – (7)

I will say the NEW is more intuitive because you don’t need to pass through the movie posters to get to the submenu.

=================

From Details page to Home page:

OLD: LEFT, UP, RIGHT – (3)

NEW: Depends on how you got to the movie. But, just “BACK, BACK, BACK – (3)” is best case. Worst case: just keep hitting BACK until you get there. This is why I’ve been requesting a “Home” button on the screen.

Then you have nothing to be confused about.

Most people want the layout of Plex the way it used to be. Not how it is now.

No one has issues with the modern polish with rounded corners to posters and themes. Just layout navigation to libraries and home to the left. That’s it. That simple.

The author of this original post makes it clear. “I remain unhappy with ‘Plex Vista’”. It’s one of his main complaints. Feel free to scroll back up and see what he posted. Most others are replying to the main post because we relate and agree with his position.

Most are not happy with such changes. Many are making their grievances known. That’s it.

Not sure how you were using the old UI but it was less steps for me, not more. Like most users have been complaining about.

This is not more intuitive, again, as most users are complaining about.

This is very simple. You like it. Many don’t. Positions have been clearly presented.

No need to continue this back and forth.

I wasn’t attempting to sway your opinion. I personally don’t care as I have no problem navigating the new experience app. I just wanted to ensure you were aware of the “shortcut” to browsing your libraries without adding an additional click or two.

I understand people have their preferences and I respect that. I’ll never try to impose my will upon others.

Saying you simply don’t like something is subjective, and comes off whiny. If you can show how something is objectively worse, than you might get a better response from Plex.

I started a thread a while back to help people explain constructively why the OLD is better. Overall, most people who like the OLD could only say “I don’t like the NEW.” It’s pretty much all you see on these forums in regards to the new UI, “We hate.”

There is some validity to not liking something, but WHY is more helpful?

Nothing you said swayed my opinion. I already made up my mind. All your post did was clarify a few of the issues that I had already found that I disliked. I just added to the conversion as i agreed with many of your points.

I can respect your position.

You are the one whining here.

I made my points as to why the old way is better. With explanations.

You don’t agree. Great. Move on.

Feel free to try and convince these people…

This is all you offered that is somewhat objective. So, feel free to back it up and show how it take more steps. It will help in making your case other than sounding like another angry voice. I was trying to help you, but you ignored and instead prefer to be condescending, as if that helps.
