Secure access requires authorisation with plex.tv. one can debate that if one allows insecure access for local clients, then this should also work when being offline.

Why would I need secure acces in my own home?
Lets face it it was a decison by Plex that has angered a large number of its ā€˜paid’ client base.

That is what I say one can debate about. There is already the option to allow insecure access locally. Still, this is also not working for every client if completely being offline.

Being able to host a local server and use local clients (Isolated LAN use) should be an option for Plex Pass folks. If codec tracking is an issue you could either require monthly connectivity to Plex.tv so log data could be shared\collected or enable pass-through streaming only. Many people have created local libraries that they don’t need to transcode, or their streaming devices have built in codec support that allows for native streaming without transcode. LAN only would enable local playback when online auth servers were down - I’ve had numerous outages and reverting back to uPnP is a 10 year regression in streaming tech & development. Plex dev help here would be great.
