Thank you for that link. That explained it.

Not exactly satisfied nor thrilled with such performance but at least I know it was not on my end.

Should be OK now. Just reconnected at my end and is accessible outside again.

I’d say 99.9999% uptime is pretty good, all things considered! Give them a break, huh?

Can’t access my Plex servers either, not even locally on my LAN with locally attached clients. This is awful. Guess I need to find a solution to access local resources with local players when the plex servers and services go down.

Sure it’s actually very impressive–UNTIL you factor in a little thing like it completely cripples your plex environment on your very own internal network!!

That is completely unacceptable! There is 0 reason I should be required to have an external internet connection to use Plex in my own home.

agree 1000%. I’m completely stuck at the moment. if you find out how to enable full access for all local services, I’d love to know. The Reg settings for unauthenticated local networks doesn’t seem to work.

NM didn’t read what you wrote. Thanks for the tip. Though I have to side with toxicman, where are these settings?

I had a very difficult time even accessing the gui directly from the server it is hosted on. I couldn’t use 127.0.0.1, at first and then I had to use the actual IP of my server and keep switching back and forth

and where are those settings?
–Security:
----Server = Preferred, not Required or Disabled
----Clients = Fallback to insecure on local network only

Seriously. Can’t find any security settings as noted.

Anyone who is having trouble accessing plex when the internet (or online plex like the current outage) is down should review the following document …

Well perhaps, at least in my case, it always just worked before. I’ve been a plex user since almost the very beginning. So instead of criticizing and ridiculing people for making a legitimate complaint, perhaps you should realize that their situation may not reflect your own.

I’ve been down a few times before and never complained as it had nothing to do with Plex itself–however these settings should be enabled by default then so people wouldn’t have anything to complain about! It was the case in the early days and should be the case now.

It’s only logical to have default settings that ensure everything is completely functional regardless of the situation!!

Makes absolutely 0 sense to have default settings render an environment inaccessible from even it’s own host machine when it loses connection to the outside world!

None of these settings are present in my version.

I’m not criticizing and ridiculing people, I’m giving folks a link to a document that may help them resolve/workaround the problem they are currently having.

Blockquote I’d say 99.9999% uptime is pretty good, all things considered! Give them a break, huh?

I saw the uptime, while impressive I make electricity from nuclear power, our current uptime is 100% for 2 years with a capacity factor of greater than 100%. I am not being petty  Nothing wrong with high expectations.

Oh and we have to announce our outages or incur MASSIVE penalties.

No you didn’t but the link you provided started out with “I’ve seen far too many posts…” Well if there are far too many posts perhaps that should set off the light bulb. Then you have users diminishing relevant complaints with “99.9% uptime” posts and others insinuating that people posting are less than intelligent because their Plex works “just like magic.” and have no idea how to help because “its been working this way for YEARS.” What exactly is the point of trolling like that anyways?

It’s simple–set default settings in the environment to ensure maximum uptime, users shouldn’t have to go searching for links to do so on their own.
