I use a VPN (Private Internet Access) I can’t get remote access with my phone. It is fine if I have my VPN turned off.
Is there a workaround for this?
I have Plex Pass.

There’s a trick and a bunch of us are still trying to sort it out.

The problem is:

  1. PMS contacts Plex.tv when you sign into your account.
  2. PMS gives PMS your WAN IP address when you enable Remote Access.
  3. If you do this (connect for remote access) while IN the VPN, and the VPN provider allows inbound connections to you, it will work.

The core issue is your WAN IP changed and PMS won’t know this until its next regular ‘phone home’ marco-polo handshake.

If you’re good with routing, you can manually specify that your control connections go outside the VPN but your streaming stays inside.

See the spider web? Not pretty. A few have solved it but only in a way that works for their configuration.
