I use an android TV box. Hav ing used plex for over 1 year I now get an error message saying no media server found. Can anyone tell me how to manually configure my server please

need more details.

also, first you need to determine if the server is actually up and working or down, or if its a client can’t see it problem.

is the server on the android box, or is a separate device (pc or server or what) ?

does your server show up @ Plex ?

if it does not show up on on the link above, does it show up when you go straight to the server ip @ https://your.server.ip:32400/manage ?

is your client logged into the same plex account ?

you can setup a manual connection in the client in the settings > advanced > you will have to specify the correct ip etc

but this probably won’t help you if the server is down, or if the server is not allowing insecure connections, or connections without authentication.

edit: also, are you on ATT ? there is a routing outage going on which may be affecting you. if so see @ AT&T Fiber Internet Blocking Plex login

I’m sorry. I’m not at all technically savvy, I don’t understand what you’re instructing me to do. All I know is I had plex installed on my android box by a 3rd party supplier who used their own server. Since signing up direct with plex I just get the error message no server found. But it says I can configure the settings manually. I just thought I could enter some new settings. Thanks for trying to help tho

unfortunately it sounds like you bought some kind of box that was connected to someone who is/was illegally sharing their movies/tvs.

when you signed up for plex, you changed the account from whatever it was, to your own account.

since whoever you bought the box from has not invited your new plex account to their server (and/or their server was shut down intentionally), you will no longer be able to access that server.

plex is for people who collect their own media and want to be able to stream it to multiple devices and share within their own friends/family.

its not for use for people to sell access to their servers to get free tv.

plex itself does not provide any content, other than the free ‘news, podcasts, webshows’ that can be accessed without a server.

otherwise, there are 2 parts to how plex works… the server (which indexes/manages/streams the media content), and the client (ie android/ios/roku/smart tvs/etc).
