I am getting ready toninstall Ububto and want to make sure it can do the following…
1: I want to install Plex Server on the PC, and also play movies with the same PC. I will only be using the Plex Server on my local lan, and not sharing outside of the network. I am assuming I will not be transcoding as the HDMI out will be going to my Yamaha cxa5100 AVP, and the video will be passed through to my LG 4k FP.
2: My PC will have a touchscreen on the front, and if I access Plex from the web and the screen goes to sleep…will it wake up to the web screen when touched, or will it revert to the desktop?
PMS (the server) does not connect to HDMI. PMS sends to the players which do. The player apps (roku, nvidia shield, appletv, etc) use HDMI and can connect directly to your AVR which is connected to the TV.
This isn’t how Plex works. It very much sounds like you’re describing Kodi , which is a very different product from another source.
What are your intentions please? We can figure out how to implement based on what you have.
To give you an idea of how I do it;
I have the Plex server running on the computer. It never sleeps but the display does go blank.
I have a Nvidia Shield , which has the Plex player app installed. The Shield connects to my Onkyo TX-RZ receiver (with 5.1 surround configuration) and HDMI output to my television.
