Id3 tags don't work on less than 10 albums

I just noticed I have a small handful of albums that have empty date fields. Plex isn’t using the id3 tag data.

Things I’ve done:

  • I have prefer metadata turned on in the library.
  • I’ve scanned the library, emptied trash, optimized database, and cleaned bundles.
  • I’ve added and removed the album, and emptied the trash between doing this.
  • Refreshed metadata.
  • Completely removed and added id3 tag data
  • The date format of the id3 tag is YYYY-MM-DD
  • Made sure all tracks share the exact same date

This is only happening for a few albums. How can I fix this?

Start by telling what kind of file format these albums are using.

They are mp3 files.

Are these albums “matched” or unmatched?
Do these albums exist on Musicbrainz.org?
Is the library using the modern metadata agent?

some of them are on MusicBrainz.
Plex Music is the agent.

I was able to manually match a few and that resolved the date issue on only those albums. That said I have a total of 42 unmatched in my music library and only 7 of them don’t have dates. So id3 tags are working for most but not all.

Do you have any other advice? Is there a way to force id3 dates?
