Ignoring $RECYCLE.BIN with .plexignore

Hi everybody,

This question as been asked before, but the poster accepted an answer that does not work in my situation.

When I add the line $RECYCLE.BIN/* to .plexignore as per the documentation, Plex still scans it. This issue has been brought up before, and the solution was to not put the library at the root of a drive. However, I did not add the root of a drive to the library. The directory I added is also a Windows network share, leading to the creation of $RECYCLE.BIN inside it.

I get the sense that this problem needs to be fixed by a dev, as had to be done with the #recycle directory on Synology.

Does anybody have any suggestions, preferably besides just putting everything in the directory inside another directory, which I add to the library?

Thanks!

Don’t add the root folder of a drive directly to a library. Always use at least one subfolder.
The problem solves itself then. (although this is not just recommended because of the trash bin)

This applies 1:1 to network shares as well.
I’d rather not share the root folder of a drive over a network.

I know this is old…

Can you clarify?
I have a pictures folder on K:\Pictures
It is shared as \mediasvr\pictures
It is mapped using DFS to \xxxx\Pictures, and mapped with a login script to N:\Pictures

I cannot seem to get rid the the recycle bin with .plexignore
.plexignore is in the Pictures folder. Pictures are in subfolders
Recycle.Bin is in Picture folder (i redirect local pictures on the workstations to the pictures folder, so Windows 10 creates this from the worstations)

plexignore stopped working with pictures months ago. there’s nothing you can do about it, i’ve already asked if we can pay extra money or buy gifts for the engineers, it doesn’t work like that. you buy your plex pass, then just keep asking for help in the support forums. occasionally someone will close your thread because it’s “in the wrong section” or “already asked somewhere else”. There’s no bug tracker, you can’t ask for it to be fixed as a feature. The support is pretty depressing.

Grr.r…
what a pain.
