I'm pulling ONLY 49 Titles on my PLEX Server....wth

I’m scanning my Media on PLEX and I have over 300 TV Shows but I am only getting 49 Titles populating my Library. I keep thinking there is a setting somewhere to change but nothing seems to work. I will say this happens on the default setting though when I add the lib. Does anyone have a solution other than reinstalling my server or adding my lib again? I’ve done that so many times. The scan is taking a very long time and maybe it will update after it’s finished.

Any thoughts on where I am going wrong>

Help would be appreciate it

The most common root cause for such an issue is bad naming or file/folder organization. Deviations from the official naming/organization schema can be particularly problematic with tv-show based media.

Beside the actual naming it’s also important to what folder your library is pointing. It should be the folder above the tv-show folders – not individual show folders and no additional folder layers in between.

Buddy, you that makes a really lot of sense. I will look into sorting that out. I just got 3 Drives with Series1, 2 and 3 /Series ie Series1/Series/* All my shows are in Folders with the appropriate names.

I’l symlink my Drives to the right TV Folder on PLEX also I think

You can keep them in separate drives / top-level folders – in that case make sure to add each of those top-level folders to the library.

e.g. if your tv shows are distributed over 3 drives; each of them mounted as its own directory in the root folder – include all 3 library folders in the Add Folder tab of the library config:

  1. /Series 1/
  2. /Series 2/
  3. /Series 3/

Now that is something new buddy. In the root folder. I’ve been just mounting to /mnt/. Dude, I appreciate the input so much. I’ll see what happens

It worked Tom. Thank you for your help buddy SOOOOO much

I’m having a similar issue and can’t figure it out at all. for example i have all 10 season of American horror story but plex only pulls through the first 6, they are all named in the same format. some TV series show and others don’t, it wont pull stranger things at all for example and again its named in the same way. i’m only using 1 drive its an 8tb WD cloud duo NAS i’d say its only pulling about 40% of my data to my server.

anyone got any other suggestions?

Doesn’t matter if this is the wrong format. The first answer above still applies.

sorry to say it can’t be that then can it? if they are all named in the same format (incorrect or not) then it should either pull them all or nothing at all not about half of them.

so are we saying there’s nothing else i can try or do to get my WHOLE Media library to show on Plex?

That is a wrong conclusion. Software which tries to deduce a structure and identification from both file names and folder organization can behave non-deterministic when it is facing data input which is outside the specification.
There is a “supported” naming schema for tv shows. It is laid out in the link above. Anything that does not follow this naming schema is not supported.
It may work – until it doesn’t.

If you find out your file naming needs to change for a large amount of those files you should take a look at this

There’s a link for the download and short tutorial there
