Image issue with Plex at TMDB

Server Version#: 1.18.7.2457
Player Version#:

When attempting to “upgrade” or place poster images at TMDB - everything works fine at TMDB, but Plex will NOT download the updates - not even in a Plex Dance (16 times and counting) for this:

several days and many Plex Dances later…:

Plex can’t get the Poster - the item didn’t have one initially.
Plex can’t update the cast images - all of them Except Paul Rudd have been changed - almost like Plex takes one shot at it - then refuses to ‘Refresh Metadata’ (there’s that old chestnut again).

I raised a question at TMDB:

Hi @JuiceWSA, yes, everything is fine on our end. I would indeed suggest asking Plex about their implementation. It seems to me there can be multiple layers of cache between their infrastructure and your client, but I am not familiar enough to answer those questions.

… and here we are - ball on Plex’s side of the net.
…hit it back - let’s get a game going…

Tried adding it myself and it added okay …

I wonder if it could be your server side caches ?

If you have not already try stopping plex and delete the content of this folder on your system (adjust path for windows if you are on windows ) /var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application\ Support/Plex\ Media\ Server/Plug-in\ Support/Caches/*
then try and refresh again

Matched fine for me too.

It’s been a while since I dumped that cache - a week or two - lemme dump it again…:

That was it.
Thanks for reminding me - Fool me once - shame on Plex - Fool me twice - shame on me.

I’ll know what to do in future when Plex locks itself up.
You get the solution - until the next time it locks up - then we’ll take another whack at it.

thanks

You sure you danced the files properly? The step to “clean bundles” should clear the cache of unused data.

Of the almost 2 million Plex TV Accounts - there is no other User Alive that has performed The Plex Dance more often - or told someone else how to do it correctly almost as many times as @OttoKerner . <— I have no illusions that’s true, but it sounds good.

There’s the Dance Link I have posted at least a million times. <— could be inflated slightly.
I bolt awake at nights with the sweats having Plex Dance night terrors.
I am a Seasoned Plex Dance Veteran.
I am well aware of how it’s done.

The Plex Dance did NOTHING.
The Agent Cache did everything.

I’m just happy I was able to place cast images that fit inside The Head Chopper 9000. The previous ‘Torso’ image of Geddy might have been good enough for Plex - but I have higher standards.

Note to self:
Barring circumstance (that might facilitate the restore) - Empty The Recycle Bin after a Cache Dump. There are about 30 thousand files in there and, not surprisingly, it’s gonna take almost as long to delete them as dumping them did. If that took a while.

30,000 files… Wow!

They were going by pretty fast, but I swear I saw a number like that at some point.

I whacked the entire directory.
Next time I’ll be more selective if possible.

Dumping TMDB and IMDB would have probably done the trick.

I nuke that folder weekly along with a couple of others before a backup is taken of my server. So it never grows to large.
