I really needed this feature recently. Even if it’s just a “disable subtitles for this series” setting.

So many duplicate requests for this feature. Surprising it still hasn’t been implemented almost 3 years later.
Having to manually change the language and subtitles for each episode is tedious and frustrating, especially when trying to do it with the Apple TV remote.
I have set the “shown with foreign audio” in my profile but that doesn’t work for at least 50% of the shows i watch as they have dual audio tracks (as the default it selects is English).
Please please add this feature

yes please for the love of god, it really wouldnt be hard to do at all, just give the option to edit default langue on a per folder basis or detect dual tracks series and separate them so we can pick 1 at the start or something. so many things could be done besides changing each episode

Come on Plex… It’s been 3 years and we still have to manually select the audio track and subtitles at the start of each episode of a TV Show or Anime.
At least, cache the last selection per session so we don’t have to do it every single time at the beginning of an episode. It’s not that difficult and really is frustrating to see you play the “silence game” over most of the features requests (especially very old ones like these).

I have all of my movie and TV shows stored as MKV files. Sometime the Subtitles are embedded, sometime they are not. When Subtitles are not embedded (Game of Thrones), I find SRT files and give them the same name as the episode. Now the Subtitles display whenever a foreign language is spoken.
My frustration is that I have to do this for every movie and every episode. I would like to be able to change a global parameter that says that if there is a corresponding SRT file with the movie/TV show then PLEX should display the contents of the SRT when the program is played. If no SRT is present then obviously nothing should be shown.
Right now, we have to select No Subtitle, External Subtitle (SRT File), or External file from the internet. That functionality is not a problem but let the Player reference the Server for the default setting.

You know that’s literally the standard behavior you get from Plex by setting your account’s language & subtitle preferences?

This feature suggestion is about selecting/changing the subtitle for an entire show (e.g. if you’ve opted to select no subtitles automatically as your default and want to see them for that particular show, or if your default automatically selected subtitle is English but you want to see the Spanish subtitles instead for that particular show).

Came here because, like many others, I’m tired of re-selecting subtitles on a per-episode basis. Yes, you can change global settings, but that doesn’t work in all cases - particularly for animes.

What cases are those?
Many animes have quite a few subtitles from which to select, and since some of the best translations come from native speakers, there are some series where the language is (incorrectly) lasted as Japanese. There may also be multiple English subtitles from which to choose (EG: all dialogue, music only, only signs/writing are translated, etc). Right now if Plex doesn’t automagically choose the right one, I have to manually open each episode and select the correct subtitle. That’s a PITA.

Ideally I would like the other request, for a per library basis, but this is the bare minimum. These features have been on the forums since I’ve been a plex member. Default tracks language setting per library - #45 by arthur_marquis_live_com
I really hate to be that guy, but situations like this have had me dabble with Emby before. If I wasn’t so entrenched in this platform, I’d choose that.

As always, you - the one and only plex team - are successfully ignoring a valid and simple to implement client request. Instead, you dump crap functions as live TV full of ads on your loyal paying and the later the more unsatisfied customer base. Rethink your business and bring back customer value!!!

Another feature, related to the subtitles.
When I watch a serie, I have to select the language for each episode.
An easy feature can be that :
When I select a specific language on the first serie episode, plex will automatically select the same language for all others episodes.
What do you think about it?

Wow, so there is really no solution.
I thought maybe I just do not find it…
I would even buy the PlexPass if this were an exclusive, how can this basic function not be integrated yet.
I guess the they had to spend their time and money for the new Netflix like Intro… -_-

I would like to add my voice to this list. It would be nice to be able to change the entire series’ audio and subtitle options. Honestly, 5 second extra work per episode isn’t much but it would be a nice feature to have.
