I vote for this feature to be added as well! We have a “family” user for Plex that filters out anything our kids shouldn’t watch and we leave it logged into the living room and play room all the time.
This was a seriously surprising letdown,…two lifetime Plex passes, and only I can record in my household. Please add this obvious feature!
There are multiple people who have bought lifetime passes to use this obvious feature, only to find out they cant have home users control the DVR. I hope it gets added soon.
It should be:
Admin: Schedule, Watch, Record, and Delete Recordings
Home User: Schedule, Watch, Record
Sharing: Watch Live and Pre-Recorded TV channels

I have a plex pass and I’d really really like this feature, along with watching tv & “joining sessions in progress” working.

Its stupid to deny home users the ability to record programs!
+1, I was really surprised when I got my HDHomeRun and Plex setup installed and my wife couldn’t use the DVR from her Plex Home account.
How could you create an in-home multi-media system and not provide the users in the home to set up their own recordings. This should be considered as a primary function of the highest order.
Wow, what is going on with Plex?! Are we having mental problems with thought and grasp, or are you folks just trying to reinvent the wheel?! The ability for ALL users to RECORD is a mandatory feature of any DVR- I’m in my mid 50’s and have never seen a DVR Without this feature (and Replay TV and TiVo were my engineering accounts in the Bay area in the 90’s- yes, the start of this whole DVR’ing thing). C’mon people- get it together!

Exactly why did the people at plex not add this right off the bat? seems silly why would I pay for the whole dvr just to be FORCED to share an account where each of us watch different stuff so it then wouldnt track stuff right.

+1 Yes, please add the option to allow manged users to set their own recordings.
They never seem to listen and yes that should been add a long time ago along with address the Multi-MediaFolder, Multi-Harddrive and proper Intelligent Scheduling/Recording, Integrated Search Capabilities and give US a option to add a Recording Library for both Show and Movie in one place I hate make this below for as Recording.
Essential for my household too, crazy not to allow it.

Glad I found this after only buying a month subscription. This is a showstopper for me. Looks like I’ll be switching to Amazon Fire TV Recast once my month subscription is done.
I’d also like to add my vote to this request.
Slowly but surely Plex is getting there with Live TV and DVR, and it’s almost to the point where it has the requisite WAF.
Live TV - check, yes that is working fine.
Grid Guide - check, have that now.
DVR features - check, these have been added…just need to make them accessible to all users, even if this means a manual “opt-in” in configuration like Live TV.
Just for the record, this is simply a checkbox for Plex for enabling this feature. As of the beginning of this year (2018), after one of the updates even Shared Users could Watch and Record Live TV! Apparently it was an accident to share it with Shared Users, so they disabled it in another update and only Home Users had access - which was correct. Then after some time, after another update, Home Users lost the ability to record - and can now only Watch Live TV. With that being said, I think some were experiencing issues with the non-admin Home Users recording Live TV - like “unexpected error”, etc. I personally had no issue with my Home Users scheduling recordings while this feature was enabled (using nVidia Shields on all my TVs). Wish they would turn it back on…
