Plex, please remember that many families (and kids) are FORCED to use regular accounts (not managed users) to access Plex servers that are shared to them.
The opt-out switches need to be protected, either by only allowing them on a web browser platform (as is the case with the “Disable” switches for all other Plex content), or with password requirements.
These simple toggles, like the one currently in place for Ways to Watch, are much too easy for kids to turn back on.
BTW, “unpinning” an item is NO WHERE NEAR good enough. Kids will find it.
Obscurity is not suitable for security, and this applies to restricting children’s access.
Curious, are the Managed Users using your Account to log into their devices? From what I know, Manage Users are unable to access a Plex server that is shared with the account, which the Managed Users are on.
I agree, and is why I am asking Plex to provide the tools that empower them to be responsible (optional restrictions such as off switches).
I will, but when you say a toggle has effectively removed something, I disagree in regards to protecting minors.
Please @ChuckPa considere having a look into it, it can’t stay like this, we need Plex to remove the links to oustide contents when the More Way to watch is unchecked!
There’s no true way to protect kids from this feature. It will have to be turned off completely when it becomes avail to managed users. If your kids are using the admin account and have access to restricted content that’s YOUR problem.
Jesus, we really are scraping the bottom of the barrel for issues now aren’t we? If you don’t want kids accessing ‘inappropriate’ content on other streaming services you should have appropriate accounts/restrictions set up on them.
Hell, tell me how to??
Before this feature they could only access to the content I decided to share to them! Now they have access to everything because from inside Plex you can now access to the streaming services portals by clicking on the adverstising Plex put in front of us in the Watchlist, the same way it was in front of us in the search bar.
