It’s not implemented yet, we just know there’s a clear plan that should make this a reality. But it still isn’t one yet
Nope - not until (if) it gets implemented and we confirm it’s done to the communities liking…
Ugh, this More ways to watch was a terrible feature. Send it back to the Product Owner who has obviously lost touch with the user base needs.
Come on now, the more ways to watch is at least good for some. I can’t wait until this is is available for Managed Users, because it will prevent my housemates from doing a search a search on Chromecast, seeing there’s nobody streaming Crimes of Grindelwald & renting it on Vudu even though the Bluray is on the shelf & it’s on Plex. The way they did the Watchlist was much worse. It doesn’t show watch status, it doesn’t update watch status, even for your own library. More Ways To Watch at least has some uses.
Meh. This is more like the forced advertisements in the Samsung tv menu that can’t be turned off. Sure there is a use for it, but that doesn’t make it right to put what is blatantly advertisements into a search function in a piece of software intended for personal libraries and then adding a pinch of salt to the wound by also not adding a way to turn it off. Will never by another Samsung television, just like I’ll never stop at a Shell gas station because they video and audio advertisements on your pump that can’t be stopped or even muted, and likewise will not renew my plex subscription if this is not fixed before it expires.
I agree with you there, & they are doing that (According to the Plexian Overlords).
I think it needs to be able to be turned off, but I still can’t agree that it’s advertisements. It just doesn’t fit the definition. They are shown in the order you choose, your stuff is always shown 1st, nothing is being promoted by it, it’s just telling you that if you can’t watch it on the servers you have access to, because they don’t have it, or they are down, or the title just won’t play, it’s available on these streaming services that you already subscribe to. When it started & it showed every source you could make a bad argument that it was advertising, but now that it only shows the ones you select the only person it benefits is the user who can do a single search, & the server owner who might reduce bandwidth if their users are watching things on Netflix instead of their server. Should you be able to turn it completely off for your account? Yes, of course. But it’s still not an ad
Network wide ad blockers like PiHole run wonders for things like this in your home. Changed my life. ![]()

Ok 3 months and a little bit of fanning our fires to a low boil, but what is the status of this?
Still being worked on, but hopefully soon.

Hopefully soon, I know it doesn’t mean anything, but we just have to beleive you.
Hope soon is soon ![]()
Please see the release notes for Web.
All clients should be ready to respect these new settings.
- Roku > 7.0.10
- Apple (iOS, tvOS) > 8.4
- Android (mobile, TV) > 9.4.0
- Web > 4.85.0
- Console, SmartTVs, etc. > 5.40.0
Please let me know if you have any questions or find any issues. Support articles will be updated shortly to reflect the new settings.
Edit: The next release for Plex for Windows, Mac, and Linux (> 1.48.0) will support these changes which will be releasing in the next day or two.
Thanks! I just quickly tested with the Plex app on my Apple TV, and the settings seem to be respected. That’s great!
Are some modifications also planned for the Watchlist? Right now, the way the items I put in the Watchlist don’t respect the posters/backgrounds/metadata of the movies and TV shows in my library really doesn’t make me want to use it. Is it something you are looking into? If not, a way to just disable the Watchlist to make it disappear from the Home page could also work.
Appreciated.
This is perfect, thank you.
A journey indeed but the end result is appreciated.
Edit - the change is also respected in Plex HTPC - again, thank you.
Ok it’s something! Still waiting for either a switch off for the “Watchlist” so I don’t have to view it on my homepage or a way to remove "More Ways to Watch/Discover " results on anything put into the “Watchlist” ![]()
Thank you. Give us users a day or two to ensure there is no negative side effects or edge cases that might have been overlooked.
If not then we can close this feature request as implemented then.
Thank you !
I’ll have a look as soon as i get home
Thank you @Atomatth I didn’t see the added dropdowns to that settings page!
For those not understanding (like me)
Go to Settings > Online Media Sources > Scroll Down to Discover > Edit All to Disabled !
Edit: Is there any reason why it changes my personal selected posters, if disabling all “Discover” sources has been set?
