The workaround I’ve found to this problem – use Foobar2000. You can sync/download your lossless files via DLNA. Foobar2000 also supports FLAC on iOS 10 and gapless playback.
I’m going to stick with the Foobar2000 player. It does everything I need until Plex gets around to properly implementing lossless audio syncing and gapless playback.
New user with new annual pass, but I will cancel I think, because there is no way to play gapless. I do not understand that this so important feature is not implemented. Kodi has it !!

It would be nice if Plex would tell is when they will work on gapless playback, or if never, tell us, so we can get on with our lives.
Since this feature request is going on 5 years now, it’s safe to say Plex expects everyone to get on with their lives as they implement other features we don’t care about.
I don’t know why we don’t have this. It would make listening to albums with bleed over so much more enjoyable and not feel like I’m using 1996 WinAmp before they implemented gapless playback.
Gapless PB not supported on Android, Mac, or HTML5 player. Rather than focusing on video channels and other dubious features the Plex Dev team ought to get the basics covered first. This thread is 3 years old. Isn’t it time?
WTF I paid 100$ life long subscription and the app is not even possible of playing gapless!!! A cannot believe that goddammit!
Please add that feature!!!
As a shortcut, they could just port MrMCM’s player which has gapless playback on iOS and port SPMC’s player for Android. But they won’t. Likely because of laziness or just plain lack of skill. Even handing them the answers won’t make it a priority. They want to be an end all be all solution but they can’t lock down the basics before moving on to other “features” no one asked for. I now use Foobar2000 which is a far better music player than Plex. Foobar2000 also allows DLNA wireless transfers from my Plex Server which is very nice. All of the Plex perks and I don’t have to use the music player. Foobar2000 is not only free w/ no ads but supports a LOT more audio formats natively including FLAC on iOS10.
Gapless playback requires filling the buffer before it runs out. As for an HTML5 player (TiVo Bolt for example), the server transcodes the audio and wraps it up in a video stream. There’s no reason they can’t just create/cache one long video stream of the music queue and just HLS stream it from there. Add chapter breaks to the transcode to enable track skipping – HTML5 gapless problem solved.

Do they need to do a Kickstarter for this, or something? I already pay for a Plex Pass but would be willing to give some extra money to be able to listen to music properly.
Already exists. Use Kodi with the add-on.
Or wait until it’s implemented on your platform… Wasn’t available on Android until exoplayer2, now we’re waiting for migration.
We have exoplayer now… cant say ive noticed this being present? have i missed somet?

As far as I am aware exoplayer2 is only used for a few cases… And right now they’re implementing a solution for offline playback which, according to a dev or ninja (can’t remember) is customized by/for Plex… I imagine if they’re implementing a new playback solution that might be coming… But you’re right, not there yet.
I am running the server on a WD PR4100 system. Unfortunately the playback is producing a gap between titles of at least 1s. Please include the feature gapless playback asap.
Thanks
+1. The reasons have been stated multiple times before.
If gapless will work on Direct Play first and via transcoding at a later time then this is fine with me.
