Gapless playback is definitely needed, but it’s important to understand it’s a MASSIVE undertaking on engineering to implement. It’s not just a few lines of code and you’re done. It’s incredibly complex and will likely take the team years to accomplish.

Then it’s about time to get working on it and maybe the dev team could inform us when they actually are doing so. I love plex. It has been my entertainment hub for years and this is the key feature I am missing for enjoying my music collection.
@jtjdt: maybe, but how comes that OpenPHT did this job in few months? I’m not a developper, just an ordinary user and can not understand this difficulty at all.
I have to repeat just how useless Plex music is to me without gapless.
Please give the music portion of plex some love and implement gapless already!!!
I would be happy with just Gapless Playback but encountering issues
where i can wait up to 14 seconds between tracks.
Im seriously considering not renewing plex pass this coming year if gapless playback and the overall music playback feature on android isnt given some attention…its badly needed.

Sitting here listening to Daft Punk’s Discovery and enjoying the 5 second gaps in what is supposed to be a gapless album. What is the status of this feature devs? 4 years to turn around an essential feature is simply unacceptable. I understand implementing gapless playback (properly) can be challenging. However, given the quality of the tool you’ve built thus far, I can’t understand why such a core feature of a proper audio player hasn’t been implemented yet.More frustrating than the feature not being implemented, however, is the fact that after hundreds of votes and many contributions to the discussion by the community there hasn’t been even one comment from PLEX or the developers on this feature. The excuse I see thrown around a lot on these forums is that “PLEX does not discuss features that may” (or may not) “be in development.” As a (paying) customer, that sounds like: “go away, we don’t have time for you or your request.”
As paying customers, I challenge each of you to not let PLEX slide on this one. A company who does not respond to their customer is doomed to fail.
With that said, @MovieFan.Plex, could you (or the appropriate party from PLEX) please provide an update on the implementation of this essential feature?
Spot on.
Shabby customer service to say they least.

I am a developer, in my mind this is easy to achieve (I know it’s not always as straight forward as it sounds)). Just have a mode we can switch on and off gapless play. If it’s on, just start to preload the next track in the playlist after the current track has done loading. On end of current track, immediately play the next track… and so on, and so on…
Voted. I would really appreciate an update on this feature.
Adding my vote for gapless playback. Plex will be my complete media solution if this was implemented.
Same here. New user and love it but can’t believe this isn’t already in place. I feel slightly conned out of my subscription as I paid the fee primarily to get the download for offline use feature only to find its not a very nice audio player!
Plus one for gapless playback.
Please, please, please.
We need this. For electronic music and live concerts, it’s a must. Is there any Plex client that support gapless playback as of now?
Adding my endorsement for gapless as well. Thanks

Rasplex & OpenPHT
Before moving to plex to listen to music library, I was using the old and reliable Logitech Media Server with ipeng as a controller, gapless playback was supported.
Would be nice to introduce this feature as a first step to make plex a good platform to listen to music !
Feels awesome to pay $150 and not have basic features that were standard a decade ago. Kind of regretting my purchase right about now.

+1 Definitely makes classical music unbearable.
