With the arrival of Vizio and Opera-based TV support it is clear that Plex is looking to expand its clients into a range of Smart TV platforms. At CES 2015, LG reaffirmed their commitment to running WebOS (now version 2.0) on all of their Smart TVs moving forward.
It would be great to see the team at Plex support this platform with an official app. The huge popularity of Simon’s 3rd party client (PLAYz) shows that the demand is there, but as an unofficial app, its functionality and support is limited.

This is a no-brainer considering LG is one of the top TV manufacturers world wide. Why do you think the playz client thread has 175 pages and is the number one download app on the LG App Store. The top five TV manufacturers should all have an official Plex app, and at some point I think they all will. Plex has really branched out lately with their new UI and being available on more devices than ever. They really are quickly becoming a standard among electronics for playing personal media. It’s nice to see them leaving everybody else in the dust in this category because I for one think plex is in a class of its own.
For them not to release an official client on LG Smart TV would just be madness.
My guess is there is already one in the works, but you know nothing will be said until the day it’s released.

I would love this... just bought my second LG (webos) and would love to disconnect the mac minis from them. I have Simon's app but it's not updated with all the new functionalities (multi-users, etc...)

Acces to remote plex server as a myplex user is impossible today on webos, it is the main feature I'm looking for

Please look into creating a Plex for LG app, I've tried Playz and it just doesn't fit my needs!
I have the Plex for Samsung on another tv in the house which is great, would love for this just to be available on LG
it would be greaat to have this… ive been using my xbox app and would love to have this as a tv app… i used the samsung app and it works beautifully. i hope yall make this an lg app… id be willing to test… i used playz but my plex server has to be logged into now for multi user so i need an official plex app.

Please do this. Many companies are committed to WebOS, including the recent addition of HBO Go and the upcoming Rdio app.

Currently not compatible with 2011 and 2012 LG tvs. To be specific, for 2012 the 50PM6700 tv is not compatible.Looks like we have a new client

Some input from Plex as to whether or not this new app is legitimate or not would be appreciated. As far as I can establish, there has been no formal announcement, nor does it appear that this new app is compatible with all new WebOS TVs.
