Just checked the LG Store and I don’t see Plex available. The TV run WebOS 2.0, which Plex says it supports. Any reason why I wouldn’t be seeing the Plex app?
It should be available for all LG Web OS 2 TVs . However we do not have any direct control over which individual TVs they enable it for. Have you tried seeing if there is a firmware update for the TV? sometimes things like that can be the cause of it not showing up.
Turns out I have WebOS 3.0, not 2.0. I did a firmware update yesterday. Didn’t help with the situation, unfortunately.
Well, after finding multiple reviews all over the Internet claiming the TV ran WebOS 3.0, LG chat support tells me that this TV runs some LG Smart TV OS. Not the old NetCast, but a completely different proprietary OS. That has got to be a support nightmare.
What’s odd is that it looks just like WebOS.
Now another LG support rep is telling me the TV does run WebOS 3.0. This is getting really annoying.
looking on their website the ones with WebOS 3 say so. like this one http://www.lg.com/us/tvs/lg-55UH7700-4k-uhd-tv
I do not see mention of it on the 5750 http://www.lg.com/ca_en/tvs/lg-55LH5750-lg-full-hd-tv
This what the support rep told me:
Ronald: Just confirmed that PLEX is a old version of screensharing on our TV to other devices, this is no longer available on our latest TV, as our latest TV now have abetter way of screensharing your content from PC or mobile to our TV.
Ronald: If oyu have the old TV version like LB or LF Series, this is still downloadable in this TV version.
Ronald: However, your LH series can no longer see this apps because the TV already have a screesharing features built-in to the TV.
Does this make sense to anyone?
that support rep does not know what they are talking about at all. Plex is not screensharing and never has been.
there was an old app LG made called MediaLink on their OLD tvs it was basically like DLNA. they stopped making it a while ago. we did not make that app and again it has nothing to do with Screensharing.
My assumption at this point is that I am going to need to call them and have the issue escalated, so I can get someone that knows more than the 1st level support.
My guess is the TV does not run WebOS 3.0. But it looks just like WebOS 3.0, and online reviews for the TV says it’s WebOS 3.0.
At this point, I’ve stopped caring. I just plugged my Roku back in and I’m good.

That’s the way to do it. “Smart” TVs are pretty stupid and not worth the hassle of depending on them for apps.
LG Tech Support called me back and told the TV doesn’t run WebOS 3.0 OR Smart TV software. It runs WebOS Lite.
Like I said previously, I’m on the Roku now, so I really don’t care. Just updating this thread in case someone else finds it useful.
I have this exact model with this exact issue. I have 2 Newer LG TVs that have the Plex application and it works seamlessly. On this particular version I use a older Chromecast. The last firmware update fo the TV takes it to 4.10.06 released May of 2018. Since it is still being updated I am hopeful that they correct the issue eventually.
