It would be great to have Plex integrated into Android Auto so that I can control everything through my car’s touch screen.

Would love this, since I plan on getting a car with android auto in the future.
My current experience with Plex and car play is I have to load the app on my phone, and start playing music from my playlist before I can actually interact with changing songs. This is just clunky compared to Spotify or Pandora carplay apps where you can simply tap the icons and load the app from your car screen. Strictly from a music perspective this should be higher on the priority list for feature updates!

Wanted to get a comment from Plex on that matter via Facebook:
“There are many hundreds of feature requests for all sorts of things. Many with thousands of likes and some much older than that one. A request in no way guarantees it will be done. There are many factors that determine if a feature will be added.”
Well, that is better than nothing after a year. I would imply this topic needs more Likes on joharps comment!
+1 for Android Auto/CarPlay. I upgraded the receiver in my vehicle so that I could stop having to use the headphone jack. Unfortunately, I can’t listen to Bluetooth audio when using Android Auto for navigation. Implementation of Plex for Android Auto / CarPlay would allow users to use navigation and listen to their music at the same time. I’m already a Plex Pass member, but I would even consider paying extra for this feature!
Hmmm I can tell you that the functionality that you are having trouble with
is absolutely supported by Android Auto. Maybe something odd w/ your
specific receiver? I have a factory radio in my Chevy Cruze and it works
beautifully…
mrjlturner: Its true you can use some music apps when Android Auto is active (ex. Google Music) but not Plex. You cannot access/control apps from your phone once Android Auto starts. All control is routed through the Android Auto receiver in the car. Since Plex is not compatible with Android Auto, it cannot be accessed once Android Auto starts.
Gotcha. That’s one app I haven’t played with while using AA. Good call.
CarPlay is lacking good apps and Plex even just for audio would improve matters as long as it had full integration otherwise why switch from Apple Music?
Not having a carplay option is the only limitation to using Plex as the only media app on my iPhone.
Yes please! I wonder if there is a hold off because of laws regarding driver-watching video in some states. :-/

Im surprised its not supported already being the a mount of time android auto has been out.
Im a Plex Subscriber and now use plex for everything from photos to TV but in stuck with using another app to play music in the car.
I Really hope its possible and will be available soon.
