[implemented] Restrict Friend Requests

I have set up my profile to be public because I want people to see my watch history and reviews. This works really well as I can link my profile and people can see what I’ve seen or what I’ve reviewed like other social media apps. Unfortunately, it also means I am getting a ton of random friend requests from people I do not know now. I cannot see a way to restrict those requests.

Ideally, people could just follow me without necessarily being my “friend”, similar to how those functions work in Letterboxd or Trakt. But if that’s more complicated, would it be possible to create an option for friend requests to be only sent from friend of friends? Or is there a similar way to disable those requests without having to turn off the public profile?

Just to clarify…
you want everyone to be able to see your profile (e.g. activities) but only “friends of friends” should be allowed to send friend requests?

That’s my thought, yes. I know different social media platforms handle it differently, but my goal is really to just stop getting spammed by friend requests from random people.

Alternatively, it can be a one-way interaction, so basically they can “follow” me and see my activities, but I cannot see their activity. I believe this is how Trakt and Letterboxd function. People can follow each other, but “friends” only happen if each party follows the counterpart back
