Been thinking about this for a while and have now decided, seeing as Plex aren't going to address the Disc # field, I've decided that the Track numbers from 101 - 121 or 201 - 221 is the only way to consolidate the Albums into one and improve loading times.
I'm using MediaMonkey to drill through all my tags and update them to put Albums into an order.
I'm removing the Disc # number, but in future, if required, because the CD number is part of the Track, it should be quite easy to redo them again (I hope).
Most albums available now are coming from Digital Downloads are starting to come away from multi CD formats anyway - or at least numbering them from 1 - 42.
As mentioned previoulsly, It appears to be a bug/feature that the Devs are not to worried about addressing yet.
You watch though, as soon as I change all 40,000 of my tracks, Plex will address it. Just my luck.
Ah.. I re-read what you posted and see you removed the disc number. I don't really want to do that to be honest.
What a faff all this is just for a silly little bug/quirk!
+1 here as well. It's starting to be quite the hassle to stream any of my multi-disc albums when I feel like Chromecasting my music library over my TV, because of this very thing.
Even if you remove the disc # field, and use track 101, 102....201, 202.....301, 3012, the new Gracenote integration seems to implement its own meta data. I just imported a bunch of Grateful Dead Dicks Picks albums, and even though it sees Vol 30 as one album, it shows three different Track 1s, even though I have only one track one.
This is totally unacceptable.
I'm going to go back and see if I do a "basic library" if my own tags will be applied rather than the "premium / plex pass library" with gracenote.

This has been noted by the dev team and they are promising a quick fix :)
Working fine in the regular Library doesn’t help if it’s not working in the premium Library and you’re set up as a premium Library and the link doesn’t even work above is there a fix for this somehow?
