in order to use audio books in plex you need to ensure your metadata is correct. I use author = artist, and album = book title, along with either blank track titles or chaptered titles. Then I number the files in order of the book. And the file names have the same info: Robert Louis Stevenson - Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde and Other Stories - 01 of 03.mp3 I also embed the cover art into the files. and store them: Books/<author>/<title>/files.
If your metadata isnt 100% right it will make a mess of this.
my filename template is: %artist%\%album%\%artist% - %album% - %track% of %totaltracks%
Thanks for your reply as to how you got your audiobooks into Plex.
I thought I had matched my metadata to your template but clearly, I haven’t done it right because I get all sorts of odd things happening. Examples include what Plex thinks is the same book with the same title from the same author when actually it is 5 different books but by the same author. Even though when I go into each title in Plex and do a “get info” it gives me the correct mp3 filename for each title, Plex displays the book title of the first book in Windows explorer (so it starts with A)
When I initially created the library I created it as a music library and took the defaults for searches. Is there something I should have turned off (or alternatively turned on) in the initial library setup
